Mischief Maker

At first I was mad that I couldn't get a picture of this print on the bathroom wall without getting ghosts of the light and mirror, but now I kinda like that.

Craziness

I came back home and these crazy looking mushrooms were growing in our backyard. There were at least five or six big batches like these.

Whipped cream

Why yes I am making whipped cream at 6:30 in the morning. Why?

Flying over Atlanta

A very freezing flight from L.A. to Atlanta. The AC was SOOO cold. It gave me a headache.

Picture Day

I love how day care sends the kids home with stickers on their backs -- right where they can't reach them -- the night before picture day.

Wine with dad

In the backyard, dad and I sipped some wine that his intern bought him while mom cooked dinner. (His shirt says, "NOT Made in China." : )

Picture the Impossible

I'm playing this game called Picture the Impossible that the local paper is organizing. One of the challenges this weekend was to take a picture with three Rochester firsts. (French's was invented here, as were pipe cleaners and roll film.)

Santa Monica

My first trip to Santa Monica and it was so foggy. It was cold, for California. : ) In the 70s. You could barely see the ocean, but it made for cool photos. This is one of my favorites from that day.

Bob

We all got short bobs today.

She's baa-ack

More than a month and many, many thousands of dollars (paid by the insurance company) later, and we have it back. Shiny!

Century City

On Friday we went to this section of L.A. called Century City, avenues of skyscrapers like this one. We went to this awesome photography museum nearby.

Girls' day

Mom and I had an awesome girls' day on my first day in Calif. Hot stone massages, pedicures, sushi for lunch, shopping, frozen yogurt, eyebrow wax, more shopping... : ) It was one of the best days ever.

Open House

After Anna's open house, we walked home, through our first leaves of the season. (Still no camera -- sorry! This was my cell phone.)

The Oldest Brother

This is Uncle Joe, my mother's eldest brother. (I still don't have my camera back -- hope all's OK with my friends and their baby!)

Going away

Toaster watched me pack my suitcase for L.A. tonight while we watched Dancing with the Stars in the background. I'm going to miss this guy.

Drawin

I lent our camera to a friend who had a baby unexpectedly this morning, but I took this pic with my phone. Anna made a fabulous kitty and Parker thought she needed some more vertical whiskers.

Taken care of

I had a long stressful day, so Toaster volunteered to cook. I love him for so many reasons but especially when he takes care of me in little ways like this.

My grandma

My grandmother, the one we named Anna after, always stuck out her tongue when she peeled apples and crocheted. I don't remember her doing it when she was putting dirty capris on over her pjs, but I imagine she would've done it then, too. :)

Fall

Our first sign of fall, perhaps? One thing I don't like about the South is how long it takes for fall to get here. I'm ready for sweaters, hearty soups and hot cocoa by the fire.

Highland Park party

Taste of the Neighborhood was today. We swung by and had just about the worst pizza ever, but the music and the company was great!

Foggy morning

The rain started to clear out some today but still left behind some fog.

Birthday cakes

Joe's birthday cake is really ghetto compared to the one I made for our friend Ian... Actually it was just leftover stuff from Ian's. I made Joe a pie, too.

Uncle Charlie

Not a great photo, but I had to post one of my Uncle Charlie. He in Lockport for just a couple nights, so we drove in after work to see him for a few hours. I wish he lived closer.

Rainy days

Yoshi's been pretty sad these past few mornings because he has not been able to go for a walk because of the rain.

Red Velvet

My favorite thing about making red velvet cake are the swirls the red dye makes in the pristine buttermilk (and the fact that it looks like I'm pouring blood into the cake batter!).

The drive home

This is how the sky looked on my way home tonight. I worked long enough to see the sun set.

Pink sneaks

I took the liberty of wearing my pink sneakers for Jeans Day. (We raised $10,000 just at the medical center!) (And yes, that carpeting is at least as old as me.)

I love a good dreary, rainy day.

Audrey II

The ugly plant now has a terrifying (and kind of beautiful) flower. The tendrils around the outside of the flower look like they're going to reach out and grab you.

Disorganization

This photo basically sums up how I'm feeling these days. Completely unorganized, moving in a million different directions, too much multitasking, too many commitments. My bedside table is so cluttered I resorted to tossing things on the floor and I'm too lazy to put away my shoes.

Jeans Day

My coworker Katie and I spent more than half our day getting these buttons to hundreds of our colleagues at the Medical Center. We get to wear jeans Wednesday!

The morning after

When I sliced it the next morning and the gooey cinnamon sugar oozed out, I decided it was totally worth it.

Hypocrite

Joe became one of those people we shake our heads at when he bought this for his mother's birthday. (Secretly, I love a lot of these lawn ornaments -- including this one!)

Clothesline Festival

Another festival, another rainy start. But we had a really good day, even before the sun came out!

Cinnamon raisin bread

At 6:30 I decided to try making cinnamon swirl raisin bread. I was up past midnight. I wish Martha would say at the beginning of the recipe how long it would take. I have to look back, but I swear it had to rise 4 times!

My mother

I see so much of my mother in her, especially when she's looking down. It's something about the shape of her eyes and forehead. God, I miss her and love that she's still here, in my daughter.

Friday ritual

It's becoming my Friday ritual to go to this bakery, Simple Kneads, for a hot beverage -- usually a cappuccino or chai -- and a muffin. The alley way is just the cutest!

New life

The tree lawns now have teeny tiny sprouts of grass. Yay!

You bought this for me. I always keep it on the shelf of my desk. It plays John Lennon's "Imagine."

Big truck

Enterprise sold the truck we were driving, so they gave us this monstrosity to drive until we get our car back. Joe kinda likes it.

Dinner and a movie

Tina came over tonight for dinner and a movie ("Valley of the Dolls"). One pizza for her. One pizza for me. We both wanted our own leftovers. : )

Note from our pet sitter

Our pet sitter leaves us the cutest notes. And she always signs her name with a little cat face. Love her!

Fashionista

The camera ran out of juice, so I dug out a pre-kindergarten photo of Banana. Thought you'd like her fashion choices.

Baby mullet

After a couple of emergency baths (for gross things you don't want to hear about), Parker's baby mullet was in rare form this weekend. (Also, thank goodness Daddy's so good with gross.)

Biltmore gardens

Before we left the Biltmore Estate (where we were staying and where the wedding was held), we toured its gardens and the actual Biltmore House. It was so much fun. In the rose garden, I snapped this photo right as this bee was about to exit. Yikes!

Castle Warner

This castle is on the other side of our neighborhood. There's a really interesting garden behind it. It's beautiful and dungeon-esque at the same time.

The bride

I didn't get very many good shots of Katie and Nate during the ceremony (too many heads in the way). But I was able to snap a few of her chatting with the kiddies. Doesn't she look beautiful?

Mickey Cake

A friend's son turned 2 today, and I made them a cake. This was before delivery, so the ears aren't on the hat yet. I hope it looked good!

Rehearsal dinner

Me and Katie at the rehearsal dinner. It was a GORGEOUS venue. In a restaurant with all floor to ceiling windows looking out onto a park and downtown Asheville.
