Cream of tartar

I only ever use cream of tartar for snickerdoodles but a recipe I was trying out asked me to slice potatoes into a bowel of water with cream of tartar in it. It said it would prevent them from turning brown.

  1. I guess. The dish was gross, though. The kids wouldn't eat it and I threw most of it out. :( It might have been that I got irradiated beef. Never tried that before. It looked pink even after all that time in the crockpot. Gross.
