I did a run through tonight on a chocolate raspberry cake that I'm making next weekend for my first cake sale! There's always one thing that always goes wrong. This time the cake layers came out perfect, the icing terrific, but my first shot at making a raspberry filling failed. Not sure what happened but I think I'm going to buy rasp preserves instead of trying to make filling from scratch. I'm so frustrated.
I almost always use jam for the fruit filling. And until recently I could use my mom's and still call it homemade. Now I just don't mention that it's storebought. I'm the only one who ever cared about that anyway.
ReplyDeleteJoe reminds me everytime I'm feeling the way you were about this filling that no one cares as much as me about the cake. No one else sees all the flaws you do. No one else looks as close and no one else knows what taste or look you had in mind. They only see and taste the end product.
ReplyDeleteToaster says the same thing to me. : ) Still, it always stresses me out. : )
