New Year, New Information

Dear Besties' followers,

You intrigue us. We started this blog very selfishly. We missed each other and thought a blog would be the best way to share small pieces of our daily lives with each other so we could feel more connected. We never dreamed that anyone (other than friends and family who already know us and our friendship) would care to see what we were sharing.

So, as a gift to us to start our New Year, would you mind leaving a comment, telling us why you follow our blog? The format hasn't made it very comment friendly, so we definitely understand why we haven't heard from you (except ChrisChaos -- hi!) before. We're just curious about who it is clicking on our pages 1,100 times last month.

Thank you!
Heather and Carla

(This pic is at least eight years old -- look how young those faces are!)

  1. First of all, you girls still look young!! Second, I follow because I know Heather & from how you both post things feel like I know Carla. I'm pretty sure we might like each other in real life. Third, your pictures tell a story & you can feel real emotion. Well, I can anyway. Fourth, it's sweet & lovely & there isn't enough of that in the world, so thank you for sharing. I'm not sure you realize that through the pictures we get updates on what is going on. Not in full detail, but enough to understand the progress! Fifth, because I think you're both awesome!!! xoxoxo

  3. I follow it because it's like little pieces of forever... when it's all over and done, the world is shattered and we are picking up the pieces, we will find these little snippets, tiny bits of everday life and from that we will weave a new world...
Seriously - it caught my eye and my imagination, two best friends far apart just sharing something everyday. I could write a book from this blog, it is that cool. I am the panda to your right, by the way...

  4. Hey. I found your blog randomly while 'surfing blogs'. I just had to stop and look at it. I'm a photographer, and an artist and your blog is beautiful. I love the whole concept of it.. and how you share your lives with one another. Your pictures and stories make my day, and inspire me to go enjoy the life around me. The first time I saw your blog I read backwards, pages and pages.

Thanks for bringing a little sunshine to my day!

  5. So good to hear from you, Karen! I think you're picking up on Carla's way of making even really difficult things beautiful. She has such a lovely energy about her, even when she's sad.

I've just added your blog to my reader. Can't wait to get to know you better.

  6. Hi, MoxyAnna! Love your handle. If I could rename my daughter Anna, her name would definitely be MoxyAnna. She's got moxy for sure! Thank you for your kind words -- we really appreciate them. From this I think we can surmise that the only Americans reading our blog are ones I went to junior high with. ;) I do so love Canadians, though. So much that I married one: http://bestiesphotoaday.blogspot.com/2009/07/canada-day-poutine.html Do they have poutine out your way (or yours, Karen?) Or is that more of an Ontario thing? My husband has clearly not schooled me enough in the ways of Canada. Of course, he couldn't remember the name of the "white-haired guy was on the dollar bill" the other day, so I guess I'm not doing my job either...

  7. U BETCHA WE GOT POUTINE (WAY OUT HERE IN THE WEST!!!!)

There is a lovely little restaurant in my town run by a French Canadian lady and she serves wicked poutine, and of course, maple ice cream. Yummers!

  8. @laoghaire and @MoxyAnna both of your comments really made my day. Thank you so much for sharing and for visiting our blog regularly. This blog has helped me see the beauty in everyday life, even when I'm at my lowest point. But most importantly it cements my friendship with Heather. Seeing the little details of her life make me feel closer to her -- emotionally and physically. And really, it's become a therapeutic outlet for me in a lot of ways and made even richer by sharing the experience with my best friend.

  9. Sorry took a while to comment back, but thanks for your lovely responses. But I just want to say, you guys are doing an awesome thing here. It's unique and beautiful. Keep up the awesome work.

@Heather - Thanks I quite like my handle too. Most people need more Moxie. And yes, we do have poutine here, haha. It's a staple.
