Big Pink Bus

Don't tell my husband but for a little while today, I lost my camera. When I got it back, I was so busy, I never got another shot of this bus. It was a weird event, but it was cool to see so many people from so many different backgrounds come together over a health issue. They had so much to say to each other about support, research and community.

The big news

And the reason I have been a little absent lately: http://golisanochildrenshospital.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/tom-golisano-pledges-20-million-to-jumpstart-hospital-dedicated-to-children/

Special surprise

We tested out a confetti cannon today to make sure it wouldn't be too loud for an event on Thursday.

Awards event

It's a good thing I got to see some old friends tonight because the awards were disappointing again. But the cocktails and company weren't!

Stroll

This morning was our big fundraising walk. My coworker was out of town, but our intern, Amanda, helped out. She did a great job -- even in the rain. I made it home on my bike just before the thunder started, but not before getting totally soaked.

Telethon

Our Children's Miracle Network Hospitals telethon starts tomorrow. There's a huge set-up in the lobby.

Janet

I got to spend about an hour with this lovely lady today. She's an anchor on our local NBC affiliate and is even more wonderful (and beautiful!) in person as she seems on TV.

Duffy

There was a HUGE crowd and lots of politicos at the building's opening ceremony today. I had a really hard time getting any photos, but I had fun playing with the settings on my camera to see if I could get people on the other side of the room into focus. Here's Bob Duffy, our former mayor and current lt. governor. I'm still kind of upset that he left us.

New building

We're cutting the ribbon at a new building at the medical center tomorrow. It's really amazing. Makes me think I need a new office. ;)

Naples

I had to go to Naples to get some video for work today. By the time I got that done, it started dropping clumps of wet snow, so I didn't get a chance to walk around and get photos of all the fishermen. I had to stop at a light on the way out and saw these falls -- through a fence. I really want to go back. It's such a cute town!

Brita

The water in my office tastes terrible, but it's a long walk to my department's water cooler. It only took a year for this solution to present itself, but I'm already happy -- and hydrated!

Important men

These are some of the most important men in Pediatrics. I find it fun that they were all in Grand Rounds with me this morning so intently listening.

Time to make the donuts

I got up at 4 a.m. to help with a live shot with a "heart" family. Mostly, I just stood around with a hot coffee in my hand, but it wouldn't have felt right to not have been there.

Plants

My plants have not been happy since their move to our new office last year, but since we figured out how to turn the radiator on, they've been decidedly unhappy. I think I need to bring them home.

Waiting

I was working on a project with one of the networks today, and it meant a lot of waiting around in a clinic. But it also meant meeting some pretty amazing kids and parents and hanging out with some of the best pediatric orthopedic providers in the country. I hope it pans out and I can show it to you.
