Finally -- RAIN!

We've been needing rain so badly, which is weird after all the rain in April and May caused so much trouble. But it was a relief to see this incredible downpour this afternoon.

Torrential rain

The rain has been really constant around here. It has knocked down all the flowers (even Mrs. Hope's) and covered them with mud speckles.

Fog

It was so foggy on our way in today and I wanted to capture it. When I snapped this photo, I frowned because I knew it focused on the raindrops instead of the tree but once I opened it on my computer, I thought -- that's pretty cool! Not at all what I was going for, but it's still kind of neat. Especially since you can see another tree in the side mirror. (I wasn't driving, btw.)

WTH, March?!

We had record-breaking snow today. Nice.

Signs of spring

Joe and I stopped home at lunch today and spotted these little guys in the backyard. There's still lots of snow in piles around our house, but it's on its way out! (Joe's allergies are on their way in, I'm sure...)

Thaw

I don't mind when Mother Nature decides to give us a break from the cold and thaw out our deep freeze. What I do mind is when she turns that cold north wind back on us before the water can soak back into the ground. The sidewalks are broken necks waiting to happen.

Yo-Yo

It's really not so much that we have been having temperature extremes, but it is a little weird that just a few hours earlier, there was hardly any snow falling and then it was impossible to drive or walk in this, and a few hours after that, it's sunny. The snow's still on the ground and it's about the same temperature, but still!

Cold day

The schools had a "cold day" today. But work has been crazy so Joe had to stay home with them. When I came home they were having fun in a tent Joe set up in the living room. While trying to capture their ridiculously static hair through the vent, I caught this shot. I like how when you back up, you can see them better.

New blanket

I didn't even notice our neighbor's bushes had red berries on them until they got coated in snow. I knew it was going to be cold today, but I didn't realize we were also getting MORE snow. This winter is kicking our butts.

Winter skin

Joe and I both have terrible skin about two weeks into winter. I moisturize constantly to (hopefully) keep it from cracking and bleeding, but I'm beginning to think Joe isn't as vigilant.

This is normal

The commute was a little slow, but no schools were cancelled or anything. Remember real snow? ;)
