Mom's early birthday present.

paper cranes are supposed to bring good luck and longevity (I believe), so I gave a small handful to Katie for her birthday. i wish i could make some.

It's been quite a year. I'm hoping 31 has better things in store for me.
Closed my eyes and made three wishes. I hope at least one of them comes true.

I'm so glad he was here with me to help put on this party. Having him here made everything so much more special.

On the hunt... for dessert

Flipped through some cookbooks tonight in search of some killer desserts for my dessert and wine birthday party on Saturday. Wish you could be there!

Happy Birthday, Jack!

Jack turns 6 today, so the girls and I made him a birthday hat. When I was double-checking his papers to make sure it was 6 (and not 7), I realized it's also been a year since his previous owner gave him up. Now that I know more of her story, I see how even more tragic that was and how it must have hurt her to give him up on his birthday. I hope she knows how happy he is and that Shadow's last few months were spent being loved beyond her wildest dreams.

Stressed out

I have been in completely stressed out mode for about a week and it's going to last for at least another week. So, of course, when I thought I could make things a little easier by taking a shortcut with Parker's birthday cake, it failed spectacularly.

One of the good things about the blizzard and my flight being canceled is that I got to celebrate my sister's birthday with her for the first time in a really, really long time. I also made her this chocolate cake.
